What is a co-operative?

A co-operative is an non-profit organisation that is run by members for the benefit of members. Each member takes personal responsibility for sustaining the co-op. Everything involved in the organisation and running of the co-op is done by members. When you become a member you will be asked how you can help. Helpers are required to set up, operate the checkout and pack away on trading days, but you can also help in other ways for example by baking a cake for the cafe or using your specific skills to maintain the website, update accounts etc. You can also participate further by attending our quarterly members' meetings which are held at the Cardinal Wolsey pub in Ipswich.
